Essence

John 19:30 Greek

    IN CHRIST ALONE

John 19:30
"So when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said "Finished!" {tetelestai} {eternal salvation life work complete --- substitutionary spiritual death on the cross}. And having pushed His head forward, He dismissed His spirit {physical death}".

Tetelesta
Tetelestai - Perfect Passive Indicative - Teleo = To end, to be finished, completed, fully executed, concluded, to discharge a debt totally and completely.

Intensive Perfect - Tetelestai = "Finished in the past with the result that it stands finished forever" - A completed action with emphasis on existing results of that past action.

Passive Voice - Represents the subject, Jesus Christ, as being acted upon by someone else, God the father, who imputed our sins to Jesus Christ and judged everyone of them.

Indicative Mood - Tetelestai = Declarative for a dogmatic statement of doctrine; salvation is totally complete.

Present State = Eternal salvation life is available.

Past Action = Jesus Christ was judged for our sins.

Very important: By adding anything to faith alone, in Christ alone, for the purpose of salvation, man is in competition with God, and that in itself is blasphemous.

Anytime anyone adds baptism or any system of works like joining a church or raising a hand or walking an aisle, or anything that man can do, he has rejected the work of Christ on the cross.

John 3:36
"Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God's wrath remains on him."
